Congratulations, Kelly Slater, winner of the 2022 Billabong Pro Pipeline.
Kelly has won his 8th Pipeline championship title a week before his 50th birthday. He first won this event 30 years ago in 1992, and he's done it again at 49.
Slater is a true legend whose athletic lifespan has extended more with each generation. Kelly holds over 11 world championship titles and 8 Pipeline championship titles. What an incredible achievement being 6 days shy of turning 50 and winning one of the most physically competitive challenges in the world. Congrats to Kelly Slater and well done to the talented Seth Moniz.
In his following interview with WSL, Kelly reflects on his experience "I said just stay in the moment, just soak it up, even if he beats you, just love it all. I committed my life to this. To all of this. To all of the heartbreak and winning and all this crap, you know, I've hated lots of it, but I savor this and this is the best win of my life."
